I saw a post here where a momma blogger talked about making homemade highways in her kitchen.
There is also this version where you can make your roads on a blanket – and use paper bags as buildings!
And since Wyatt is LOVING all things cars, trucks, trains – etc. I knew we had to try this out.
So, we rummaged through the craft closet and grabbed four materials.
- Colored Paper
- Tape
- Marker
- Toys
It took less than 10 minutes to set up and Wyatt played for over an HOUR! He loved it! I sat on the floor with him and we matched up the colors of the cars to the colored “parking spaces”. Then we raced our cars and just played!
The tape is still on our kitchen floor – and Wyatt was so excited to play there again today! I am considering doing the blanket version so I can make more intricate roads and add more colors and perhaps shapes!
But, I just had to share this activity because it was such a hit!

Haah! No the only tape I had on hand was the same color as the floor-on the other posts they used colored tape which is probably way better – especially for pictures! Xo

No problem! We are working on colors a lot lately so I figured id incorporate it in with the activity! You should definitely try some of these out with B ! He’d probably love them!
What a great idea! Save your cereal boxes and oatmeal containers and.cover in butcher paper and decorate. They make nice buildings. Paper towel tubes for tunnels.
