Today I’ll be talking about my new Herringbone rug from American Rug Craftsmen AND giving one away!
Exciting, right?! So let’s get to it!
I have been wanting to make a sensory room in our house for a long time. A space filled with ways Wyatt could satisfy his need to jump, slide, move, and explore. I also wanted this to be a space where Levi can play too – a place he could romp around while Wyatt was running around. Since Levi’s crib is still in our room, his room was just sitting empty! So I finally started decorating and creating the space.
This Herringbone rug was just absolutely perfect with its bold black and white design. It perfectly compliments all of the other small touches in the room like a painting that Wyatt and I made together, a knit banner, and the mobile that I created for Levi’s nursery. The room also contains a sand table that has half sand and half-dried macaroni – we added some small measuring cups and scoops to make it perfect for sensory play. We also have a small trampoline and an indoor slide. Levi has an exersaucer set up and bouncer chair so he can bounce and play too.
The room ended up getting a little crammed, and Levi started sleeping well through the night (thank goodness!) – so we are planning on putting him back in the nursery. We moved the sensory room downstairs and it now takes up the middle level of our home (the things we do for kids, eh?). Wyatt’s teachers absolutely love the space, it’s a cool way for them to work with him when they are here for home therapy. Wyatt just loves showing off how well he can scoop sand or slide down the slide.
The best part about this rug (and any other Mohawk Home rug I’ve owned) is that it is SO easy to clean. This rug gets sand all over it on a daily basis and it is easily vacuumed up, which is SO important. The website description says that it will resist staining, fading, mold/mildew, and that it can also be used as an outdoor rug! I love that it’s stylish and functional!
