healthyhabits

As moms, sometimes it’s easy to put ourselves last. And that is part of our job, to take care of those around us. But, what about own health? Having the responsibly of taking care of little ones (or big ones) puts a lot of stress on our minds and bodies and it’s important for us to create healthy habits that are just for us.

I’m not just talking about physical health – but, mental health too! It’s important to have “me” time whenever we can. Time to do something just for us, time to enjoy silence, time for quiet. It is absolutely amazing to have an hour by myself to recharge and refresh my mind. But when something else comes up (one of your kids is sick, and errand needs to be done, etc) “me” time is always the first to get cut off the list.

Yesterday I went Walgreens to pick up some items for my “me” time.

See me in the mirror reflection on the wall below? Hii!

I got some hair dye (hello fresh color), vitamins, and a fancy nail application. I figured I could take an hour out of my night and treat myself just a bit. And it was WONDERFUL. Feeling better about myself makes it better for those around me. It makes me a better wife and a better mother. I’m the type of person that carries a lot of stress, I’ve got terrible anxiety so my mind is always going non-stop. When I’m having a little time to myself at home it makes everything else around me stop. I am able to think clearly, organize my thoughts, and then go back to being the mom and wife that I need to be 110%.

I ate a vitamin, put in my hair dye, and while it was working its magic I put on my nails! I have to admit, I haven’t used glue-on nails since the 7th grade but I think they turned out pretty cute! What do you think?

Do you ever put yourself on the back burner?

If you had an hour of “me” time – what’s the first thing you would do?
