Sometimes going outside fixes everything.

Even if it’s just going into the back yard, going for a walk, or taking a dip in your mini-pool. Getting that fresh air just has a way of making everything better. Over the weekend we took the boys (and our pup Emma) to the lake. I watched as Wyatt and Levi splashed in the water – smiled – and had the time of their life.

Wyatt is a total water bug and just loves lakes, pools, and sprinklers! We brought his little plastic outdoor slide with us and put it right in the sand so he could slide in the water ๐Ÿ™‚ Emma swam, going completely underwater and jumped in and out of the water. Levi stayed in the shallow end and put his toes in the sand, splashing as he watched Wyatt slide. Everyone was happy, everyone was smiling, and it was just a good day.

It got me thinking about a lot. About how we are raising the boys, what we can do differently, and what it is that makes our family happy. Life is just to short to spend time doing things you don’t absolutely love. People settle for careers they hate, live in houses they can’t afford, and buy things they don’t need. It makes everything just so stressful – and that stress carries over to that person’s family.

I want to spend more time outdoors, spend more time snuggled up in bed reading Little Critter to the boys. I want to go to the lake, often – play outside everyday, and let Wyatt eat as many strawberries as he wants, even if it is before dinner. I want to spend more time laughing, more time holding hands, and more time reminding myself how truly blessed I am.

Within the next few months there will be many changes happening in our house. Ones that both excite and terrify me (aren’t those always the best things). But making these changes will benefit our family, make us happier and will allow us to spend more time together. And none of that sounds half-bad ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, here’s to living life, being happy – and doing things that scare you!
