Do you ever plan time to just reflect about things that you’re passionate about? If someone asked me to name one thing that I was passionate about, it would be writing. It’s always moved me in a way that was so sincere, so genuine, and so impactful. My love for writing has brought me to a lot of fun places in my life, from first starting my blog to working with fun companies, and so much more. It’s given me a way to express myself, it’s such an amazing feeling to just be able to pour your mind onto the computer, that clickity-clack of the keys, ah, it’s magical. Sometimes I think about what my life would be like if I never started writing, never started my blog, I wonder what outlet I would have found. It’s so important to find the things that you’re passionate about – and chase after them.
I’ve always loved this quote —
“The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.” ― Fabienne Fredrickson
I also have a huge passion for music, not that I’m a great singer or can play an instrument, but I love listening to music. And let’s be honest, nothing can beat the feeling of riding at night with the windows down, having that cool breeze in your hair, singing your heart out to your favorite songs.

As a millennial from the Detroit area, it’s kind of impossible to not have an appreciation for music. It is after all Motown. So as an throw-back to Detroit and it’s rich musical history, I created a fun drink that I lovingly call a Watermelon Sidecar Singer! I can’t wait to show you how it’s made!
Now, ready for the recipe?
1 cup cubed Watermelon
1 Watermelon wedge
1/2 Lemon (juiced)
1 cup Ice
2 tbs Rémy Martin Cognac
1 tbs vodka
Lemon Sugar (or make your own)
- Put cubed watermelon in blender and blend until completely smooth.
- In a shaker, add 1 cup of ice, your watermelon juice, 1tbs of lemon juice, 2 tbs Rémy Martin Cognac, 1 tbs vodka, and shake.
- Rim your glass with lemon juice, and lemon sugar.
- Pour shaker contents into the glass, garnish with watermelon wedge and lemon slice!
This drink is so cool and refreshing, I just know you’re going to love it! It’s perfect for summer gatherings when the weather is hot! I think I also might have to host a fun girls’ night and serve it there, too! It’s just so pretty and versatile!
Yum, Yum, Yum! This drink will definitely have you singing along and it just may even stir up some reflections about your passions in life.
What is YOUR passion?
