Why I'll Be Spending More Time Outdoors

It’s taken a long time, but I’m finally starting to nail down my list of needs. Not for anyone else, just for me. Something I’ve discovered is that being outside in nature relaxes me, something about it just puts my soul at ease. Plus, it’s a great way for the kiddos to run off energy mid-afternoon or before bed.

These past few years I’ve been running my life on overdrive, and I’m just now starting to put on the brakes a bit to slow things down. I want to spend time making our house a home, spend time making memories with my kids, and spend time keeping the relationship I have with my husband in tip-top shape. THOSE are the important things in life, right?

So now it’s a priority for me to make time to be outside. Whether I’m taking the dogs for a walk, going out to the park with the kids, or exploring nature parks as a family – we WILL be outside everyday rain or shine. I just can’t wait for it to warm up a bit here in Michigan so we can enter Spring and do even more outside! Usually in the summer I’ll sit outside on the patio to work, and I love it! Please, Michigan, get warmer soon!

I have so many memories of playing outside as a kid, adventuring into the woods, our tree house, and beyond. And I think it’s important for kids to learn how to play without anything electronic. We’ve been sucked in by the screen for far too long and I’m ready to break free!
