As moms, sometimes it’s easy to put ourselves last. And that is part of our job, to take care of those around us. But, what about own health? Having the responsibly of taking care of little ones (or big ones) puts a lot of stress on our minds and bodies and it’s important for us to create healthy habits that are just for us.
I’m not just talking about physical health – but, mental health too! It’s important to have “me” time whenever we can. Time to do something just for us, time to enjoy silence, time for quiet. It is absolutely amazing to have an hour by myself to recharge and refresh my mind. But when something else comes up (one of your kids is sick, and errand needs to be done, etc) “me” time is always the first to get cut off the list.
Yesterday I went Walgreens to pick up some items for my “me” time.
See me in the mirror reflection on the wall below? Hii!
I got some hair dye (hello fresh color), vitamins, and a fancy nail application. I figured I could take an hour out of my night and treat myself just a bit. And it was WONDERFUL. Feeling better about myself makes it better for those around me. It makes me a better wife and a better mother. I’m the type of person that carries a lot of stress, I’ve got terrible anxiety so my mind is always going non-stop. When I’m having a little time to myself at home it makes everything else around me stop. I am able to think clearly, organize my thoughts, and then go back to being the mom and wife that I need to be 110%.
I ate a vitamin, put in my hair dye, and while it was working its magic I put on my nails! I have to admit, I haven’t used glue-on nails since the 7th grade but I think they turned out pretty cute! What do you think?
Do you ever put yourself on the back burner?
If you had an hour of “me” time – what’s the first thing you would do?
I’m so bad about taking my vitamins! Lol! I need like, a daily hit on the head to remember!
I’ve just recently been good about it – it has helped my hair and nails tremendously!
“Me time” is so important! Your nails look so pretty and that reminds me to take my vitamin!! lol
Lol! Thank you! 🙂
Oh I am a fanatic about taking vitamins, I have big events scheduled for summer that cause tons of stress and I can imagine my immune system is down bc of this. I have gotten to where I recently take daily vitamins to keep my immune system up to keep from getting sick. Great post:)
Thanks, Chelsee! I take about 3-4 different vitamins too! I’ve noticed a huge difference in my hair because of it!
It is so easy to forget about me time but it is so important… though if I get too caught up in me then I am just as miserable too, so it really is a balance game, but me time is necessary.
Exactly, it’s SO important. Even if it’s just enjoying a cup of coffee each day in a quite room – for a few minutes. It helps out so much!
OH YAY! I can have these nails TOOOOOOO
Lol! Aren’t they cute?!
ME time is SUCH a necessity when you’re a mom especially! I’m glad you took some you time! And I LOVE your nails!
Thank you!! They were just the sparkle I needed! 🙂
Those nails are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!
Tanks! I think they were like $6 and there extra too! 🙂 SO pretty!
Love the nails!
Thanks Carly!! I love them too!
I’m going to look for those nails. I LOVE them!
I can’t believe those are glue on nails! They’re SO CUTE! I love the splash of glitter at the tip! How long did they end up lasting? I might have to get some. I’m so glad you were able to find everything you needed for a relaxing hour to yourself at Walgreens. Now make it a habit to do it more often! #client
Love the glitter on the nails! I can’t even remember the last time I did fake nails like that. Maybe I’ll do mine tonight. 😛
It’s so easy to fall into the trap of just taking care of everyone else. Love this about taking care of ME! I always say how can you take care of others if you don’t make time to make sure you’re taken care of! XO
Glue on nails never work for me but those are some really cute ones.
Man… glue on nails have really stepped up their game. Those are adorable!
