Tell us about your current car โ what vehicle does your family own?
Currently our family has a 2010 Hyundai Elantra and we love it! We bought it right after my husband graduated college and when I was 7 months pregnant with Wyatt.
Did you purchase it brand new or did you look at new or used cars?
We looked at both new and used cars. We ended up buying our car used from the Hyundai dealership. It had previously been a rental car and had some small scratches and a cigarette burn on the interior. Because of this we were able to get it for a really great price! All that mattered to us was the safety and affordability – and this car was rated 5 stars and cost significantly less compared to a new model.
Preparing children for a long car ride can be difficult. How do you keep Wyatt entertained for a long journey?
When we go on longer trips with Wyatt we are always prepared with our Road Trip “staples”. These staples include: snacks, books, toys, a fully charged cell phone (to watch cartoons if needed), a soft blanket, his favorite “lovies”, and lots of milk!
When we have all of these goodies – we’re set! And if he gets bored (because he is still rear-facing in his car seat) one of us will go and sit in the back with him. It’s usually William because I always get carsick in the backseat!
If you could be approved for any car loans and if money was no object, what car would you purchase for your family?
I would probably get a Subaru. I’ve always been in love with them! They are super safe and stylish but way out of our price range! To be honest, I don’t really need a car that is too fancy – I would rather spend my money on other things like saving for a house, putting money away for Wyatt, or saving for a family trip. But if money was no object, I would definitely get a Subaru.
What is your favourite thing to do while driving?
Singing! Usually when I am in the car driving I am alone running an errand or sneaking away to Target. I love turning up the music (usually Maroon 5 or Taylor Swift) and singing at the top of my lungs! It releases so much stress and the music just makes me feel good! I definitely recommend it!
Disclosure: This was a sponsored post but all opinions are 100% honest and my own.
I technically own a 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander, but I’ve been driving my mom’s old 2001 Acura MDX for a few months now. She’s selling it to me for $1, and I’m selling my 16 year old sister the Outlander for $1. ๐ It’s the only times my car “woes” have ever seemed easy, haha. I always have such bad luck with cars! My husband drives an ’01 Honda Accord coupe and it’s just so tiny, it’s impossible to fit my (rear facing) son in the backseat of his car and put him into the car with only two doors. Argh.
We did that in our family with one of my first cars! I am thinking we are going to have to upgrade when #2 is born because our car is too small. It’s a compact and Wyatt’s rear facing seat takes up the whole back of the car! lol.
I own a 2012 Honda civic and absolutely love it! It’s SOO good on gas mileage and it’s just the cutest little thing, in my opinion!

Yes! They are so cute! What color??
I know Subaru gets good safety ratings, but Jim is a collision specialist (puts wrecked cars back together? I dunno he does car stuff and I don’t speak car) and says that they are some of the worst wrecks he sees and they basically collapse/crush worse then most so we are never allowed to own one. He says your model Hyundai is his favorite, and that’s what we’d buy when we have kids because they hold up if god forbid you get in an accident!!

Really? That’s awesome! We were considering upgrading our car – but now we are thinking of keeping it! I guess it depends on if the second car seat can fit in the back! ๐
We drive a Honda Pilot and love it! the space is amazing and the stability is above what I expected from an SUV. It’s actually our second one. It has space for up to 8 passengers and storage in the back. If money were not an object I think I’d get the same Honda Pilot.
I drive a Hyundai Santa Fe, it’s on it’s last leg but we need it to hang in ther ea bit longer! So far so good!
