Hello there everyone! Today I am sharing some pics from over the weekend when we carved our first family pumpkin of the year! Pumpkin carving is just SO much fun – it’s a great way to spend time as a family all while doing an activity together. And just because, I wanted to flash back to last year when Wyatt carved his first pumpkin – just go ahead and check out those baby curls!
This year we went about carving our pumpkins in a whole different way – we used actual pumpkin carving supplies! And let me tell you, it was soooo much easier. We used all Pumpkin Masters supplies – these can be found at your local grocery, drug, or craft store, and nationally at Target and Walmart. When I first looked at the little carving knife that comes with the kit I think I may have rolled my eyes – but it works WAY better than a kitchen knife and is safer too.
We ended up choosing a simple cat pattern from the kids book because we wanted Wyatt to be as involved as possible. He loved taking the top off the pumpkin and watching me pull out all of the seeds and insides of the pumpkin. The pattern was perforated so we could easily rip the shape of the pattern out of the book to tape onto the pumpkin. Once it was taped we simply poked holes using the special tool, removed the paper, and used the carving tool to connect the dots! It took us half the time it did last year – the Pumpkin Masters supplies made a huge difference!
We had so much fun creating our cat pumpkin that we also made a spider AND floral pumpkin with our kits too! Football was on television, fall candles were lit, the windows were open, and we spent some great quality family time on Sunday just creating our pumpkin masterpieces! Doesn’t really get any better than that! And because I’m not sure exactly when little Levi (the one who’s baking) will get here – I wanted to do these things with Wyatt early so I wouldn’t miss my chance!
Oh, and one more thing! Here’s the pumpkins lit up and glowing – the picture is from my instagram account and if you head over there you can see more pumpkin pics!

That looks so much easier
The pumpkin came out great and I live how little one was a part of it all!
Thank you! It was SO much easier with the kit! ๐
Awesome pumpkin! I need to get one for my little one to carve
Thanks, Melanie! You should totally get one to carve! It is so much fun!
Looks great!! It has always been a tradition since my girls were little (they are now 19 & 16) to get each one their own mini pumpkin to decorate with markers, paints, etc… and two big pumpkins to carve. Even though my daughter is in college, she still makes sure I have pumpkins for her to do when she comes home.
Awe, that is a great tradition! We painted some little pumpkins this year and I think we are going to add that into our family tradition. It’s just so much fun to paint AND carve pumpkins! We’ve been giving them away to family because we have no where to put them!
Aw I love this, you did an awesome job!
Thank you, Carly! Wyatt did most of the work ๐
We are a big fan of the pumpkin masters kits. Love the cat pumpkin, it turned out super cute.
Thanks, Melissa! I love the kitty pumpkin too! ๐
