Miles

Have you heard the story of Miles Scott? Do you know what took place November, 14th 2013? I wasn’t there personally that day, but I followed the social media coverage minute by minute. Because it was something that truly inspired me and touched my heart. Miles is a child involved in the Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area program. The Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area grants more than 300 wishes annually to children who have battled a life-threatening illness. Miles had battled leukemia, and won.

His wish – to be Batkid for just one day. And what happened next, how people came together, how a city transformed, was something that no one could have ever dreamed would happen. The story captured and inspired millions – more than a billion people were moved on social media. And because of all that love – because of the volunteers that made it possible – this is what happened:

Miles got his dream! And now there is a documentary all about it! It tells the story, how it came to be, why so many people were driven to be involved, and so much more. The filmmaker, Dana Nachman has created this beautiful film and all of the proceeds will benefit San Francisco charities. This story, this boy, and his heart – are all so inspiring and this tale really needs to be told. I can’t wait to see the film and I can’t imagine how moving it will be. I’m not going to lie – I totally cried when I first heard about Miles, and I continued to cry as I watched his dreams come true over social media. Just the look on his face is priceless and it was amazing to see him stand up in front of the city as people cheered him on for saving the day!

Make A Wish 6

He fought something most of us can’t even begin to sympathize with, and he is only five. This is a story that I’ll always remember – and one I will always tell to my boys.
