Hey folks – who’s up for some Salmon?
Today we’re going to talk about Rachael Ray’s Nutrish for Cats food (wet & dry) and I’m going to share photos (and a recipe) of a really easy Salmon dish you can make in the oven at home. Seriously, so easy – and so good!
Not to start the post off with a sad note – but we recently discovered that our kitty, Mason will probably only live another year, if that. We want to make this the best year of her life – so we’re planning to spoil her rotten. And giving her a food with real meat that’s yummy salmon (her favorite) is all part of that plan. This Nutrish cat food was an instant hit with both Mason and Cubby. You’ve got the choice between wet and dry food and you’ll feel good knowing that you’re feeding your kitty a food with meat as the #1 ingredient, no fillers. If you’re wondering where you can pick some up, you can use the handy store finder.
We created a whole special meal inspired by the Rachel Ray Nutrish Cat food using the main ingredient found in the kitty food – salmon! Since the cat food was technically Salmon and Brown Rice – we made both!
Here’s the simple recipe – just slice lemon, season, wrap in tin foil, and cook! Can’t get easier than that!
See? Easy! And it was so delicious! This is my favorite way to cook Salmon because it keeps it nice and tender – I don’t like my salmon to be too dry or crispy. We complimented the meal with plain brown rice and some sweet peas. It was a gorgeous day so we ate outside.
When we got back inside we treated Mason and Cubby to a catnip toy and some good old fashioned paper bag playing. It’s amazing how much our cats love a plain paper bag!

GOOD LUCK!
I was never a huge salmon fan, until I learned how to steam it in foil on the BBQ, then add it straight to the grill the last few minutes with a glaze and it gets almost crispy on the outside! I love it and its SO good for you. ๐
We have two right now. One is named Sabre and she came to us as a stray kitten. The other is named Monty and he is my son’s ex-girlfriend’s cat that needed a temporary home that turned into a permanent resident.
I have heard such good things about her line of pet food. Im thinking of trying it for our baby Garfield.
Aww, cute cats! <3 My son shouted, "KITTEN!" over my shoulder – he loves them! ๐ The salmon looks delish! <3
I’m not a huge fan of salmon but my cats love it. I am definitely going to get them some of this!
I have 2 kitties, one just turned 10 and the other just turned 1. The baby has a bit of the devil in him and the 10 year old is perfect ๐
My kitty is cute and cuddly and loves attention ๐
She a sweetie.
We actually have a kitty that we call kitty and while she doesn’t like wet food, she does love Rachel Ray food. We buy it for her and she just gobbles it down. ๐
I bet your kitties just loved their tasty meals! They sure are digging in like they do ๐
Mmmm Salmon.
I don’t have a cat anymore. I grew up with one though. My senior year of high school we had to put her to sleep. We knew when we were doing it ahead of time. If you walked in the house with McDonald’s the cat was stalking you down to get your french fries. So for her “last meal” we treated her to her favorite fries. I love that you’re feeding your kitty real food that it loves despite knowing that your time is limited together.
The Lemon Pepper spice is my go-to spice for everything. I love it! Mainly the lemon pepper chicken I like to create with it. All thanks to my Brother who doesn’t need a receipe to make anything. I on the other hand need to follow a receipe even if I know it like the back of my hand.
Random, but I don’t own any cats – and I’m terrified of all of them. Even if the owners are all “oh my cat is different, s/he’s so sweet”. I simply can’t help it. My body temp rises when I’m around one, lolol. That sound ridiculous. But it’s all because I was attacked by one as a kid. It latched onto my knee (with its mouth, mind you), and I had to peel it off with a popsicle stick. That was probably a weird comment to leave. I tend to ramble. I’m sorry lol.
My boyfriend recently found out he’s allergic to fish, which I am gutted about and which also means that we don’t have fish in the house so I rarely cook it! I’m so sorry to hear your cat may only last one more year ๐ Sounds like you’re giving it a beautiful final go though!
Katie <3
Baby, who thinks she is my momma is a loving but STRICT cat. She tells me when to go to bed and when to get up. I have to be sitting near her or she will wait to eat until I am. She does love cuddling up and being stroked–she in turn thinks it is her sworn duty to knead my legs every night–and yes she has claws which she does try not to use (an OUCH from me reminds her!).
Our cats are really fussy they will only eat one kind of food.
Mr Crowley is a one-eyed black & white crazy furball that loves nothing more than to escape out the back door every single chance he gets! ๐
that kitty is just too cute!!! lemon pepper sounds like the perfect seasoning for salmon! yum!
Aww, your cats are so cute! I had no idea that Rachel Ray made cat food! I just saw another blog today about foil recipes I will have to try. My fiance loves Salmon too.
I absolute LOVE salmon. I am always looking for new recipes and to be honest with you, I have never tried cooking it in foil. Thanks for this as I will definitely try it out. I definitely did not know that Rachel Ray made cat food though, that is a new one for me.

I am beyond not a fan of salmon but I really wish I was since it’s so healthy!
I am in love with your cats. Too cute! I am convinced that my dog thinks he is a cat by how he acts haha and he loves hanging out with our neighbors cat! I really wish we would be a cat but my allergies are horrible ๐
would be able to get a* — haha no idea where my mind was when I wrote that last sentence!!
I had to re read your post because that summer looked too good lol. I love salmon hands down
We don’t have a cat, but I know my sister is going to love this when I share it with her.
I like that Rachel Ray has created an organization that gives back to forgotten pets. Good for her, and hurrah to those who have pets and support it with purchases!
Love Rachel Ray and I love Salmon! If we had a cat I’d be all over this lol
My cat is basically a dog, he’s constantly by my side. Veryyy needy.
Great giveaway! I’m more of a dog person myself, but cats are really growing on me.

Rachel Ray makes cat food? WHAT??? She so needs to make some dog food! Your cats are too cute!
I would love to win for my 4 indoor cats. My cats are my best buds. They are all rescues and are very spoiled! Bubba is my largest weighing a hefty 21 lbs. He is a solid black domestic short hair. He was rescued from a sewer pipe by me when he was just a small kitten. Little is a sweet , shy tabby who was rescued from my best friendโs nasty neighborโs garage. Chester is a brown tabby that I personally rescued off of a busy median. He was just sitting in the grass on the side of 2 busy highways. It took me about 5 minutes , but I was able to grab him , bring him home and clean him up. Heโs never been happier now. And finally, my tuxedo dah-linโ, Ryder. She is a handful! Sheโs very snobby, and overbearing. She has a personality for days and always gets what she wants. My cats love to eat and sleep all day long!
We actually have two kitties! Gus and Dixie, from the same litter. Both fat cats with good, loving personalities but different in every other way. Gus is a lazy little mama’s boy who’s afraid of his own shadow and Dixie is a daddy’s girl and a little daredevil. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Rachel Ray is great! I bet your cats really love this
Your kitties are too cute! I love that you created a meal for yourself inspired by the cat’s food!
I have two cats, a tortoiseshell named Reeses and a long-hair tuxedo named Shadow. They love to play outside, but aren’t allowed out in our new apartment.
I lovvve Salmon. I want some so bad now!
OMG what a cute and creative idea! Your kitties made me super smile!

I have 3 kitties, one is mellow and sweet, one is crazy and sweet, and one is ornery but sweet.
sorry to hear about your cat, Spoiling seems like a great plan and I’m sure kitty will love all the salmony cat food ๐
Great recipe! I’m not a huge fan of salmon, but my cat on the other hand, will eat anything.
I have two cats. One really likes salmon and the other LOVES salmon. It is all she will eat!
I have a 6 year old rescue cat. a Maine Coon, named Bugsy. He’s the funniest — and most vocal — cat I’ve ever had!
i have two cats..lilly and bud. they both love to eat sleep and cuddle
Your baby is so sweet! This meal looks delicious, and the picture of the cat in the bag is hilarious! My pup likes to do the same thing and it gets me laughing every single time!
I have two awesome rescue cats. Wink was abandoned when he was about 1-2 years old. He was the sweetest little guy and wouldn’t leave our yard so we adopted him. He is now 15 and still doing great. Sophie was a pregnant feral when we first noticed her. We ended up finding a great home for her baby and Soph has been with us ever since. She is a little, adorable girl with a huge appetite lol
