Autism Favorite Boredom Busters for Summer

Hello, friends!

Hope you’re having a great day! Today we’re teaming up with our friends at Fun and Function to share a few of our favorite items to keep your little one on the spectrum movin’ and groovin’ this summer! We all know how difficult that change and routine can be, so we’ve been making sure to include lots of sensory fun to keep Wyatt happy and busy this summer!

Today we’re featuring four of our favorite items from Fun and Function, and we can’t wait to hear what you think!

Hopper Balls

These hopper balls are awesome, and perfect to have on hand for summer break. They can be used either inside or outside and they’re great for bouncing off extra energy. They come in several different colors so your kiddo can pick their favorite! Wyatt’s favorite colors are red and orange, so we picked up this orange one. He’s been using it so much lately, even when he’s sitting at his kiddie table at home, he uses it as a seat sometimes when he’s feeling extra wiggly.

Discovery Putty Dino Dig

We absolutely love the putty’s from Fun and Function, but this one is our favorite. Both of my kiddos love dinos so this was an instant hit with them. What sets this putty apart is the fact that there are little dinos and little fossils to find! We love picking out all of the dinos and then saying which kind of dino each piece is.

Scooterboard with Handles

An item that encourages activity and is under $20? This is what had me sold on this Scooterboard with Handles.  Seriously, this scooter is so much fun! Wyatt loves sitting on it and scooting it down the slope of our driveway, when he gets to the end he turns it around and heads back up the driveway. I want to get a second scooterboard so he and Levi can have races, wouldn’t that be so much fun? We also use this as a tummy scooter where he can lay on it belly down and scoot on his belly that way.

Fidget Balls (3 pack)

These fidget balls are so handy to have on hand for the summer. They can be used individually or all together and your kiddo will love feeling the different tactile sensations in each one! One is filled with sand to give it weight, one is filled with small plastic pellets (they kind of look like sprinkles), and the last one is filled with small balls that you can move around as a fidget. We’ve been using these daily, and I plan on creating a fun toss game with them outside as well!

What are YOUR favorite boredom busters for summer?
