Rule of thumb for litter boxes is to have one more than the number of cats you have. For example, we have three cats, so we have four litter boxes set up in our home. We have our litter boxes set up in my office so I will always be reminded to scoop them daily. We put them in the corner of the room so the cats could have a little bit of privacy, and also purchased some litter mats so there isn’t any spreading of the litter all over the room. Litter mats are AWESOME and I highly recommend them – they’re washable, too! For convenience, we have two scoops for our litter boxes set up so there is always a tool to clean the boxes handy.
