Disclosure: A huge thanks to The Motherhood for sponsoring today’s discussion. #SIMPLEGiving
For some families, having access to things like food and personal care items is a daily struggle. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, over 16 million American children live in poverty. 16 million. Champions for Kids, General Mills and Unilever are joining together to help make a change by introducing the Fall Kidsโ Essentials Program.
How it works:
Starting October 14th, over 1,800 participating Walmart stores will have donation bins located inside the store. Customers can purchase food and personal care items for children and place them inside the bins. All of the donations will stay in the community and be distributed in the school districts nearest to each store.
Champions for Kids, General Mills and Unilever will also be awarding school districts in each participating Walmart division that collect the most donated items. The School districts can win one of many prizes, totaling $10,000! Finalists will be highlighted on the Champions for Kids Facebook page where voters can โlikeโ and โshareโ their favorite stories.
Also, General Mills and Unilever are sponsoring a SIMPLE Service project. SIMPLE Service projects create easy ways for people to give back to the little ones in their communities. Participants can visit CFKHelpKidsThrive.org to learn more and submit their stories for a chance to win!
So, what do you think? Isn’t it amazing when companies come together to make a difference? And whats better yet is the fact that you can help if you choose to do so. I know we’ll be dropping a few items in the bins at our local Walmart!
Will you be participating?
What do you think of this program?
Sounds like an amazing program! So good to hear that many big companies are doing something great to help the ones in need.
Champions For Kids is an amazing program. I’m so proud of everything they do.
I love when big companies do big things for those in need! Restores my faith in big corporations! Thanks for sharing! ๐
What a great program! I’ll have to remember to look for a donation bin next time I go to Walmart.
This is wonderful that big companies give back to the communities! I wish there was a way for them to not miss out on tons of homeschool families that could benefit from these programs that do have just as much need – if not more due to one parent losing the extra income because of the violence within the schools and having to pay for all their school supplies and curriculum that is not funded by any outside agency.
Thank you so much for letting me know about this program! There is a Walmart near us and I am going to take my sons shopping for items to donate to the families in our area!!!
Sounds like a great program. It is wonderful that companies can get behind great causes, especially ones that can help children!
Wow I’ve never heard of this program before, it sounds amazing!
This is such a wonderful program!
This is a great program! Any thing to benefit and improve the lives of the children within our communities, or anywhere in the world is a beautiful thing. Thanks for bringing more attention to it!
What a great program. We always try to donate things for kids whenever we can.
Awesome, I saw a bin at my Walmart today! I will be donating next week when I do my shopping!
I haven’t seen this in my local Walmart. I will have to keep my eyes open so I can donate the next time I go.
This is definitely a good cause. I do a lot of donating to food pantries and even donate clothing items. Sometimes I also do the toys for tots program.
What a great way to work together to help kids. I will have to make it a priority to get to Walmart to take part.
Unilever is a big company behind many charity projects. Kids need as much help as they can get.
Such a fabulous and worthwhile program.
Sounds like a great program!
Such a great project, it so good to help others if you can esp when it’s children that don’t have much ๐
This is an amazing program indeed. Kudos to Walmart, General Mills, and Unilever for the work they are doing for those in need. Thanks for sharing.
this is wonderful!! I hope a lot of people donate to those bins! What a great cause!!
What a great and worthwhile program! Great idea.
I just saw a video about hunger in our children in America. This all is just so sad.
I think this is a beautiful program! We truly need more community help in things like this, because sometimes it takes a community to raise our children in these ways!
Champions for Kids seems like such a great cause. I will certainly look for those bins during our next shopping trip. ๐
I like Walmart’s campaign for children. It always make my heart melt to see campaigns for the children. I hope everyone will participate.
