One of the best parts about living in Michigan is that there is what seems like an endless amount of lakes to explore. Both of my kiddos are total water babies, so in the summer, you can always find us at the beach. Give us a sunny day, and a lake, and we’re golden for the day. Some of our best times so far this summer have been at the lake, and I wanted to write a post sharing our beach day must-haves, just in case you’re planning a family beach day, too!
Beach Must-Haves:
- Sand Toys – Buckets, shovels, and sand molds are a must-have for the beach. The kiddos also love bringing their own toys to the beach, too!
- Large Beach Blanket – we love using a quilt so it’s a big enough of an area for everyone to sit down.
- Cooler – Packing a cooler with water and snacks will guarantee everyone is staying hydrated and tummies are full. My littlest guy always swims, then snacks, then swims again so having his favorite snacks on hand is so convenient!
- Beach Umbrella – My lovely father-in-law makes fun of me every time he sees be bringing my umbrella to the beach, but when I’m sitting in that nice comfy shaded spot watching my kiddos swim around, it makes my heart so happy – and I’m well protected from the sun. ๐ This also helps give the kids a break from the sun in between swimming and playing.
- Waterproof Zipped Bag – I recently added a waterproof zip bag to our beach outings and oh-my-goodness, it’s been great to have! When I want to bring my digital camera to the beach, I pop it in that bag and don’t have to worry about it getting splashed when not in use. These bags are also great for tossing wet swimsuits, etc in because they keep the moisture contained and prevents it from getting everything else in the bag wet.
- Hylandโs Earache Drops – these drops are a must-have for any beach bag! These drops help to relieve the earaches you can sometimes get from swimming in non-chlorinated water. But the bigger towels from home are perfect for cuddling up when you’re all done in the water and just want to enjoy the beautiful view.
- Sun Protection – You knew we were going to say sunscreen, right? It’s an absolute must! We also bring hats and sunglasses to keep our heads and eyes protected, too!
I feel like so far this summer, we’ve been spending more time outdoors, which I love. Exploring our area with the kiddos is one of my favorite things to do, and we’ve discovered some pretty cool local spots, too! I’m excited to continue making these memories with them, because when they’re older – these are the times we’re going to look back on, and my heart feels so full thinking about that.
