10 Ways to Keep Yourself from Going Crazy when you have a Newborn

10 Ways to Keep Yourself from Going Crazy when you have a Newborn

10 Ways to keep yourself from going crazy when you have a newborn:

  1. Meal Prep: You know all of your friends who spend days meal planning? Yes, be like them. Figure out what meals work best (and are freezable) and schedule/make as many as you can. When you come home with your brand-new baby in tow, you’re not going to want to leave their side to cook dinner. This Chicken Taco Soup is EASY + Freezable!
  2. Ask for help: Don’t be afraid to reach out for assistance for whatever you may need. It’s what friends and family are for!
  3. Chat with a Certified Sleep Consultant, free!: Believe me, when your baby gets good sleep, you will get good sleep. Talking with a Sleep Consultant can give you the support you need to make the best plan for your little one. Taking the time to do that, will save your sanity. That is why Gerber® Good Start® Gentle is happy to introduce a Certified Sleep Consultant for your little one’s needs.
  4. SLEEP WHENEVER YOU CAN: Speaking of sleep, do it, as often as possible. I don’t know about you, but the more I sleep the nicer I am. The less I sleep, well, it’s the opposite, and it ain’t pretty.
  5. Shower: I know this seems like something simple, but for me it made a world of difference. It made me feel regular and human again, and nothing beats the smell of being clean. Especially if you’re covered in baby “stuff”. If the one thing you do for yourself is shower each day, do it. It will make you feel so much better to just shower and put on a fresh pair of sweat pants.
  6. Get some fresh air: Get out and go for a walk, even if it’s just in your backyard. I felt so isolated after having both boys and walks (especially on cool nights) were a great way to get out of the house and relax as a family after a long day of snuggles and feedings.
  7. Enjoy Yourself: Take a few minutes each morning just to remind yourself how blessed you are. Think about it, you’ve got a brand new little precious life in your hands. And yes, it can be stressful – but what you are experiencing now is something that so many dream of. Savor it, breathe it in.
  8. Record everything: My favorite memories are those made when we first brought the boys home. With Wyatt everything was new, but I did my best to write down my favorite moments. The first time he smiled, what blanket he used. With Levi, I did the same thing. I kept his baby book close by and wrote about how much joy he brought to our family.
  9. Keep your camera charged. You’re going to want to take a billion sleeping baby photos, it just comes with the territory. And when you put your baby to sleep at night, and you’re exhausted, something will pull you to review those snapshots and look at your adorable Gerber® baby! Instant cameras are also a great option!
  10. Take a breather: When you’re getting frustrated or overwhelmed remind yourself of this one thing. Having a newborn is hard work, and you’re doing the BEST that you can. Sometimes we can be our own worst critic – try to keep that in mind.

Just a note: From mother to mother, you’re doing great. Even if you’re reading this and you have yet to welcome your little bundle into the world, you’re still doing a great job. Got it? Now, go snuggle that baby, or prep for the nursery – you’ve got this!

Find local Mom groups or Le Leche League groups. Having additional support from other Mommies is great!

Another day of cozy comfies with my little Lady. She is so squishy and fluffy & I just am so obsessed with her already. I took her out to go potty today and people in our neighborhood STOPPED IN THE STREET to see her. Yep, that’s just the effect us Rayburn gals have. 😉

🌙✨INTRO TIME✨🌙 Hi, friends! There are l 🌙✨INTRO TIME✨🌙

Hi, friends! There are lots of new faces around here thanks to @roseybeeme - (thank you so much, Rosey) so I wanted to do an intro!

👋🏼 Hi, I’m Kendall!

✨ I live with chronic illness and am in pain every single day. I try to lead with positivity so it doesn’t swallow me whole.

✨ I met my husband at a coffee shop. I used to go to write in my journal and escape - at that time I was living in my car and having a warm comfy space to relax and collect my thoughts was essential. Meeting William saved my life. More on that later.

✨ I’m an enneagram 2 and a highly-sensitive person. What does this mean? I’m super empathetic towards others and can almost feel their emotions. I carry the weight of others a lot - I enjoy making people feel better. Oh, and I cry, a lot.

✨ I started my blog back in 2009 when my endometriosis pain kept me from being able to do anything. It was something I could do from home, in bed, to connect with the outside world. I never thought it’d end up being my full-time career, passion, and how my hubby & I provide for our family. Just know when you like & comment on my content - you’re truly helping our fam! ♥️

✨ I have two sons. Wyatt is 9 and has Autism. He’s taught me so much about patience, love, and life. I wouldn’t change anything about him, even on the hard days, because I know he was born to do great things. My youngest son is Levi, he is 6 and was born with clubfoot. He did treatment for 4 years, had surgery, and has worn several casts to correct his foot. If you saw him now, you’d never know!

✨ I am happier now at 34 than I have ever been in my entire life. I always wanted a family that loved me. I always wanted to feel safe. Now I have both.

✨ I believe that you can make whatever you want out of life. Your beginnings only make you stronger - your future is your own.

💕✨ TELL ME ABOUT YOU! What’s something you feel comfortable sharing so we can get to know eachother better! ✨💕

✨Why is it always so easy to believe the bad thi ✨Why is it always so easy to believe the bad things that are said about us, as opposed to the good?✨

🧠 Could it be because at some point those same negative thoughts have echoed in our own heads as well?

Too fat.
Too loud.
Too opinionated.
Too sick.
Too moody.

Remember that you’re never too much of anything. Protect your space, energy, time, and most importantly, your heart.

You deserve to be surrounded by good people that want good things for you. If at any time you feel that you need to take a step back, reevaluate and realign, do so!

🧠 Your mental health and how you feel about yourself is so incredibly important. ✨GOOD✨ things are coming your way and you won’t be able to see the light if you never flip the switch.
💕✨IT’S PUPPY DAY!✨💕 🌧 We left this 💕✨IT’S PUPPY DAY!✨💕

🌧 We left this morning to go pick up our puppy and in the rain, in a not-so-nice part of town, our windshield wipers stopped working completely. (See stories) 🙈

🧰 Luckily my hubby was able to get us home safely, fix the problem, and now we’re back on the road!

#ad 💜The day I got my Endometriosis diagnosis w #ad 💜The day I got my Endometriosis diagnosis was also the day I was told that if I wanted kids, I needed to have them ASAP.

I was 23 years old.

I had just had my first ever laparoscopy after dealing with years and years of unexplained pain with hopes that the doctors would finally be able to solve the puzzle, and would finally be able to figure me out.”

🌿Fashion for me is healing🌿 🥵 When I wak 🌿Fashion for me is healing🌿

🥵 When I wake up on a bad pain day and already feel defeated it can be hard to make my toes touch the floor. Sometimes my body and mind make me feel like there’s no point - that whatever my day holds will include an intense pain, and I’ll have to deal with it whether I like it or not.

💕 But if I stretch myself just a little, put on a cute sweatsuit and mascara - I begin to build an armor. But instead of this armor keeping me safe from the world, it’s keeping me safe from myself, my illness, and the thought that it controls me.

☁️ It’s like being wrapped in warm, cozy comfort, even though your insides are hurting. And on weeks where I just can’t get a break with my pain, I kick things up a notch and throw on a party dress - preferably something with a little pizzaz.

✨That’s why I really fell in love with clothing, because I can’t change the inside, I can’t make my illness go away, but I can combat it with my own kind of light. ✨
